U6-10 Soccer Program
Practice Details
- Begins August 28th, 2024
- There will be one practice night per week on Wednesday evening.
- U6 (PreK and Kindergarten)
- U8 (1st/2nd Grade)
- U10 (3rd/4th Grade)
- Practice Dates: 8/28, 9/4, 9/11, 9/18, 9/24, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16
- Players will be assigned to a group leader (Coach) that will help guide them through the drills during the practice. Their group might change from week to week.
- Drills will be designed to place a soccer ball at each player’s feet for as many touches as possible. The station should encourage dribbling with some limited passing and kicking of the ball. The goal for each station is for the player to have fun while getting as many touches with the ball as possible!
- Equipment – Size 4 Soccer Ball, Shin guards, Cleats and Water.
- Cleats are not required, but are encouraged. When indoors, sneakers or cleats will be fine.
- Each player MUST bring their own water bottle and cannot share with other players.
Game Details
- Game Days are Saturday morning.
- Game Dates: 9/7, 9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19
- FORMAT – 5v5 (4 Field Players and 1 Goalie per team) for 1st/2nd Grade. 3v3 or 4v4 for K/Pre-K
- FIELD – Each game will be assigned to a U8 sized field.
- EQUIPMENT – Size 4 Soccer Ball, Shin guards, Cleats, Jersey and Water.
- FLOW OF THE GAME – All players should be involved as much as possible. Game should move back and forth between the Goals. Encourage the players to dribble and score as much as possible. Defenders should be working to get across the half line when team is attacking. Defenders can and should work to score.
- GAME LENGTH – Should be no longer than 45 minutes.
- Coaches to mix and match players as needed. We want each game to be as competitive as possible. Every player plays every position and at least 1/2 the game.
- We do not keep score in Academy games as the goal is to encourage teamwork, individual player success and ultimately have FUN!
